Curriculum

Saints Peter and Paul School’s mission is to help each student realize their full potential – intellectually, spiritually, socially, and physically – and to instill Catholic values that will guide their choices and prepare them for the future. The curriculum supports these goals, including the development of strong character and values in every student.

Core academics includes math, reading comprehension, vocabulary, social studies, history, science and religion. Core academics are augmented by art literacy, music, and physical education.

Spiritual Formation

The Presence of Priests and Sisters

The school is blessed with the spiritual oversight of Norbertine priests and sisters. Our school rector is Father Charbel Grbavac, O.Praem. who, among his many duties, leads the teachers and staff in the spiritual formation of the students.  He oversees the spiritual life of the school community, administering the sacraments and ensuring the regular opportunity for students to receive the sacrament of Reconciliation on campus. He also teaches religion to the 5th grade, and visits each classroom weekly.  The students benefit from his daily presence and his concern for their spiritual welfare.   The pastor and other priests from the parish regularly visit the school and interact with the student body.  Sister Adriana is on campus daily to teach religion to our First Communion class.  Two of the Norbertine postulents, Maritza and Anna, are teachers’ aides in our Transitional Kindergarten class. All of the priests and sisters are accessible to the students who benefit from their guidance.

Daily Religion Classes

Daily religion classes are directed toward instilling in students an understanding and appreciation for Catholic belief and practice. All students participate in religion classes and all religious events at Saints Peter and Paul.  Our religion teachings are faithful to the doctrines taught by the Catholic Church.

Student Masses

Each week students attend Mass on Fridays at 8:15am.  The students also attend prayer services for  special feast days and holy days of obligation. The dates and times for school Masses and prayer services are posted on the monthly school calendar and in the weekly school bulletin. Parents are always welcome to join the students and staff for Mass.

Weekly Confession

Weekly confessions are offered on campus by our Norbertine priests so that students have the opportunity to go to receive the sacrament of Reconciliation each month.

Daily Prayer

Prayer is a part of the daily routine at the beginning and end of the day, and before and after lunch. A variety of prayer experiences are offered for students during each liturgical season throughout the school year.

Sacramental Preparation

Sacramental preparation is done in conjunction with the parish and involves parental participation. Students in second grade are prepared for the sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Communion.  Children are greatly encouraged to regularly receive the sacraments, including attending Mass each Sunday.
